BANGLADESH The Rohingya people are forced to flee from their homes in Burma and unwanted in the neighboring country. They are persecuted, forced to build roads, clear forest areas and dig ditches for the Burmese authorities while their property is confiscated. More than 200,000 have fled Burma and settled in Bangladesh. Here they have a better life, but still live in fear of being sent home again. Some of the Rohingyas live in an unofficial refugee camp and therefore have do not even have access to basic rights. Disease and chronic illness are common, because of poor sanitary conditions, lack of food and heavy rainfall. They are stateless, but still manages to have a better life here than in Burma.
